Fun first episode! I’m looking forward to the second episode, but also hoping the very cheesy in-show advertisements are greatly reduced.

If there’s ever anything to yank listeners out of the story, it’s repeatedly being beaten over the head with what effectively amounts to repeated and blatant product placement. Yeah, I get that the laugh track is a self-deprecating nod to how cheesy those parts were, but it doesn’t actually help. In fact, if anything, I kept picturing AwesomeMan as Captain Amazing from “Mystery Men” — the superhero character with so many brand name logos on his suit that he almost looked like a NASCAR driver.

I wonder if “Playing for Keeps” has its own references to buying Scott Sigler’s “Infected,” or maybe even tells us how refreshing a cold Pepsi can be alongside a Domino’s pizza. I’d like to find out, but I can’t seem to remember when “Playing for Keeps” will be released, or where I could buy it. ;)

Fair enough, Zee. You’ll be glad to hear this is the one-and-only in-show promo.

Just for the record, this wasn’t an ad. No one paid for it. In fact, no one requested it. It was entirely my bright (or not-so-bright) idea, and was meant as a tongue-in-cheek nod to Mur and the book promotion grind, as well as to show our support.

    Thanks for listening!

Great first episode. Its The Santa Clause meets Mystery Men. Awesome. I thought the Playing for Keeps reference really more spoofed product placement - It was just a joke, and I got it.

Thus far, I’d have to say this is the best WTT production yet. Well done FC.

I also enjoyed the episode! I laughed at your reference to Mur, it seems you cannot escape her. I thought it was fine, if nothing else it gave the story some grounding in reality. Good job.
