My friend Jim Jennewein — who used to teach a great screenwriting class at UCLA — is getting strong reviews for his new YA novel, RuneWarriors. The book, the first of a planned trilogy by Jim and co-writer Tom S. Parker, reads like a Nordic Harry Potter — with a Viking teen battling angry Norse gods, nasty trolls and twenty-foot-tall “frost giants.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, the scream queen, herself, called it “an instant classic.”
The Bloomsbury Review says the book’s “ruggedly Nordic mythscape will send shivers of anticipation down even the most jaded middle-school spine.”
And the Kliatt School & Library Review predicts “the brisk pace and rollicking adventures should keep boys and girls alike spellbound.”
I’m a bit older than the target audience, but I’ve got my copy ordered already.
Congrats Jim and Tom!
