Great story. As much as I should have expected the ending it actually caught me by suprise. I really liked this one.
Listened to it on my way home for Halloween, it made me think “eeewww” during a couple parts. At one point I actually verbalized that feeling. Mr. Murano really set the scene for a great spooky story. Highly suggest downloading this one.
Good story. Liked the twist.
This story really intrigued me. I felt like the first twist came out of nowhere. It’s not really a twist when you leave important detales out until the end, but the second twist was great. I liked the change in how death is visualized and the idea that you don’t even know when it happens.
I enjoyed the story immensely. The flat almost laconic reading by Mr. Goodspeed was a huge factor. It gave the story a great eerie presence, and made the few shifts all the more powerful. (Loved that hacking cough!)
As for the “twist,” I thought I knew where everything was going, and was pleasantly surprised at the doubleback. In retrospect, the Johnny Cash song should give it away, but I was way too into things to give the matter proper thought. A tip of the of the cowboy hat (or horrifically ugly toque, if you prefer) to Mr. Murano for my attention to raptly that I never gave the devil his due.
Thanks for the complements folks. The fact is, this was an extremely well written story. Check out Los Gringos coming soon from WTT. Another excellent piece of fiction is just around the corner….
I’d also like to thank those who listened to the tale and took time to post kind words.
It was a treat for me to hear Mr. Goodspeed’s superb reading of “Folsom Pond Blues,” and I’m glad the combination of story and delivery worked so well.
Wow! Loved the story and the reading. How can you not dig a well written old scratch yarn?
I did nothing but vague in and out; it didn’t grip me at all.
