I was wondering if anyone had some tips they might want to pass along regarding getting published?  Since I have never been published, the only content I can add to this discussion would be in the form of questions.

Thanks in advance,
Doug

I would appreciate any information on this as well... I know some, but I'm not a good resource on the matter.  I am currently working on my first novel, called "7 Transgressions of Marley."  I am about to self-publish a collection of short stories at www.Lulu.com .  The name of the book is "Tales from Babylon: Volume 1."  Exciting, exciting... but it's not receive a huge check and be filthy rich type publishing.  So, that takes some of the zing out of it.  But I'm still excited.  Already have a guaranteed book signing in town.

Hi Doug,

I suppose a lot of that depends on where you want to get published.  Duotrope.com is a great resource for writers, listing all sorts of publications looking for material.

If you're talking novels or books, I don't have much insight there, aside from pointing to the podcast-to-print road being paved by the likes of Scott Sigler and Scott Harwood (check out Scott's video on the WTT video page.)

I'm actually starting on my first novel now -- in longhand, no less -- and will blog about what I learn once I get it ready to send out.

Cheers,

Kevin
