Welcome to Well Told Tales

Hi there,

Thanks for visiting Well Told Tales.

If you've been here before, you'll notice the site has changed radically from a humble blog/podcast to a full-featured community site for writers, filmmakers, podcasters, artists and their fans.

If you're wondering why we changed, the answer is simple -- I was sick of being a bottleneck.

Well Told Tales has been publishing audio tales since 2007.  We've also published text stories, comics, and spoken word experiments. And there was a lot more great stuff coming in ... so much so, I was unable to keep up with it and lots of great, pulpy content got buried alive in our digital slushpile.

Now, anyone can avoid the bottleneck.

We'll keep publishing our podcast -- and if you're already subscribed, you don't have to change a thing to keep getting it.  But we're also throwing open the doors to anyone who wants to publish their own content or form their own group or just blog or write a review once in a while.

With this new site you can:

  • publish text short stories
  • publish audio tales
  • publish short films
  • blog
  • review movies, books or just about anything else
  • make friends and track their activities

A few simple rules:

  • No porn
  • Don't publish copyrighted work that doesn't belong to you
  • Be cool to other users

Authors retain all copyrights to their own work, of course, and can delete their material at any time.

As always, the site is completely free. Even better, you can earn a few nickels or prizes for participating on the site:

Google Ads

You may have noticed we publish some Google Ads on the site.  If you post content, we're happy to split revenue with you 50/50. Here's how to get rich some spare change in three easy steps:

  1. Sign up for a Google Adsense account
  2. Link that to your Well Told Tales account (by going to your account page, clicking the "Edit" tab and then the "Earn some coin" button)
  3. Post a text story or short film or audio tale or review

When people visit your content, they'll see your ads half the time, and Well Told Tales ads half the time.  Google pays you directly via your Adsense account.  Fair warning: you won't get rich from Google Ads.  But even if it's spare change, it's nice to officially be a paid writer/filmmaker/blogger.

TipJoy

Well Told Tales is supported by generous users, who donate to us so we can pay our podcast authors.  You can ask those same users for tips on your content by enabling the TipJoy option on your user account.

Go to the Edit tab on your Account page to activate, and see what happens.

PulpyPoints

Finally, we now dole out monthly prizes to our most active members.  Registered users earn PulpyPoints just for using the site.  Whoever has the most points at the end of the month, wins a lovely prize (usually a novel or audiobook something along those lines.)

Go to the PulpyPoints page for more details.

We're always trying to improve the site, so let me know what you like, what you don't like and what you'd like to see in the future and we'll do our best to keep evolving.

I hope you enjoy the site.  And I can't wait to see what you create!

Cheers,

Kevin Colligan
